Garden: A good start is half the battle

[arhiv]

It's beyond my control – bi rekel John Malkovich.

These last days I was mainly limping around the house, and whining how unfair it is, that I can't go on a long walk and stretch my body. Between that, there were tiny moments, when I forgot about my situation and managed to finally plan out how this year garden will look like. You know; which plants go on which garden bed.
I have already seeded some veggies in pots, mostly the leek and salads, and now I have to wait for the beginning of this gardening season. In the mean time, I don't want to lose interest, so I'm watching TV shows like Edible Garden, Vrtlarica (Croatian show),…. I know this seems a little bit funny, but it helps me to stay motivated. Visiting gardening centers or nurseries does the opposite and puts me off. Prices are so high that force me to doubt – Wouldn't be cheaper just to buy veggies on the market?

With so much debating about self-sustainability, we probably all know advantages and disadvantages of gardening by now. And in the end, we all have to decide which path is good for us and what we will seed and nourish, and what it is better simply to buy. I know I will not plant tomatoes. No way. I just don’t have the will to water them on daily basis. I also don’t have the energy to weed all the time, unless there is a place for me to sit on the ground. What I’m trying to say is that by know I know myself and I just know I won’t do it. So this year I’m planting veggies that suit me; regarding what goes on my plate, considering my physical ability and what I love.
